I've kinda been thinking of starting to slowly build an engine. Just curious is anyone on here has built a stroker? I searched for "stroker," figuring I'd find something perverted if nothing else, but alas I came up empty handed. Anyway. I've done some reading on them, but I have more learning to do. What is the difference between the 2.3 and 2.4? Any thoughts on stroking would be apprectiated. I am looking to buy parts over the winter, provided my cashflow doesn't get interrupted.

I'm pretty sure the 2.4 uses the 4GCS block. The 2.3 uses the 4g63.

I would have to agree. The fastest DSM are still 2.0's. The whole point of stroking is just the low end torque. Just match up a nice turbo and you'll be well off.

I'd love to get some more power a little lower. Just curious if anyone around here has one. I'd love to know the pros and cons for it. I'm just looking at options right now. I'm looking to try to hit around 300 to 350 AWHP. I'm not big on turbo lag, but it is just so much fun when the boost comes in. I haven't ridden in any cars with larger turbos, so I'm not sure on the difference in lag. I was thinking of doing a stroker and 16 or 18g. I don't think I'll go up to a 20g. I'm still just researching options and trying to find out what will fit me best. This car is going to be my daily driver for quite awhile. I'm not planning on giving up the Talon until it rusts apart.

The biggest problem with a stroker engine is that you can't rev the motor as high as a 2.0 even with good aftermarket parts you shouldn't go past 7200-7500rpms. A stroker motor is real good for a street car that has a big turbo like a td06 20g or bigger the extra exhaust flow will spool a pretty big turbo. You should also run at least 272 or bigger cams so that the engine can breath. Search on dsmtuners in the stroker section there is alot of good info there.

I wish I had money to finish my spare stroker motor but with the wife in college and only working 2-3 days a week and no overtime at my job I don't have to much spare cash.

A 2litre with a 16g will haul some ass. I rev my little 2.0 to 9200k no problems. Sounds like a tractor bred with a crotch rocket. WEEEEEEE

What internals do you have to hit 9200? I can't imagine what that would sound like. I'm used to sportbikes, but they have a different sound. My R6 was limited to 16.5K. That would be another problem I have, I shift too early as it is. I'm not yet used to the sound of the engine at higher rpms. Normal driving I shift around 3-4K and if I get into it, usually around 6.5K.
I guess I missed that Tuners had a stroker section. I'll check it out. Wishful thinking that someone around here had done it so I could get a ride in the car and see how it felt and if it was right for me.

ive pushed my 4g64 which is pretty much a stroker to 8875 according to link and it does scream. remember you build your bottom end for reliabilty and top end for power mine is a forged crank and eagle rods and wiseco pistons fully balanced of course
i also run a tdo6h hot side wheel and im at full boost by 4k rpm

I get about the same spool out of my pte6152 on a 8.8:1 2.0l with 272's on it and a completely stock head otherwise. I fear my clutch is letting go on me, but that's another issue altogether. For a streetable fun car. setup a 2.0 with a set of 264 cams and slap an evo 3 16g on there. Ramp it up to about 25psi with either E85 or Meth injection and you'll have a 350whp car with a 400lb torque spike right about 3200rpm or so. Should be fun.

the EvoIII 16g is slightly larger than the big 16g. I Love mine. I have the EvoIII manifold, turbo, and O2 housing. I believe the only thing about the evo O2 housing that makes it difficult to mount, (not that it's difficult) is the greater angle of the gasket surfaces themselves that it doesn't line up perfect with your downpipe. I really didn't notice a huge difference giving me any troubles with the downpipe connection.
