honestly, the power that you get in the lower rpms is not going to bother you, if you have a nice 2.5" to 3" downpipe, getting to 3k rpm is nothing. you hardly notice it and then your boost kicks in. you wouldn't believe the V8 cars that I stomped by having AWD and not even beating on the car or launching. the 2.0 is power proven. many people do run with the 2.3 and like it, yeah it gives you more displacement, but the trouble to me has never seemed worth the time or money. but if that is really what you want, then don't waste your time with a 16g of any kind, go with a 20g at the least. there was a time when I tossed the idea around to go with either a 2.1, 2.3, or 2.4, but like I said it just didn't seem to be realistic. if you have a 2.0 that is leak free and tuned throughout the powerband, you will be greatly happy with it and a evoIII 16g. That is just my $.02 on the stroker idea.

Yep, all internals are stock to my knowledge, but then again, I know it was a boneyard motor. Soooo...who really knows. I'm going to assume that it is stock.

If you did a build, just putting in some higher compression pistons will help your torque and spool tremendously. Especially if you run like Mavis's set-up. The EVO 8.8:1 pistons, that is a whole point higher in compression without boring the block.

I have no real reason to freshen up the motor other than I have no clue what kind of life it has had. That is mostly why I was going to look into building another motor in my spare time. I hadn't priced out building the stroker yet, but it definitely will be more expensive than moding my existing one.
So what would I be looking at for an Evo 16g prep? I'm guessing Injectors, Fuel Pump, Fuel Pressure Regulator, FMIC and hard piping, something to tune (probably go with DSM link), AEM UEGO & Tru-Boost....I have a 3" (I believe. I need to install that soon) downpipe and 2 1/2 from that back. I'm going to have to do some driveline repair prior. The driveshaft has some play and it looks like one of the mounts got ripped off of the bottom of the car and somebody did a crap job welding it back in place.

I'm still going to look for another block to build up sometime in the future. Not crazy, but I like the sounds of that piston setup and having a fresh engine that I know the history of.

A 2.0 with even the stock compression will be plenty. You'll find out that unlinke the mustang you will have to drop a gear once in awhile to get hte power you need, but that's just a fact of life with the smaller engine. The nice thing is that once you get used to this you'll realize that even after you drop a gear, you've still got a good 3000-4000 rpm to play with before you have to change gears again. During that time you'd rape the last Mustang you owned.
