I'd like to get a sport bike sometime this year if I can afford it. I'm no racer but I like the look of a sport bike more than a crusier. Nothing bigger than a 750cc. I just want a cheap 90's bike that hasn't been ruined. (I realize that may be impossible to find) A 600 GSX-R would be perfect, or a 600 Ninja. Something like that. Hell, even like a 84' Honda Interceptor I wouldn't care, just as long as it's in pretty good shape.
I have a 80' KZ650 now, but it could use a rebuild and I would just rather get a different bike. Something around 2 grand would be great. Just keep your eyes open if you could. Thanks.

Oh NO!! Not you too!
haha, I was looking for one some years back...I did find some that were around the area of 1500-4000. It is deff. do-able if you really have the patience and look around (interwebz, newspaper, auto-rv, drive-by).
Get the ninja!
if not, a good ol kawasaki is cheap and good.

Just sold the ZX-11 for $2000 on Saturday, down payment on the Scubaru.
KZ 650 was hot back in the day with a pipe and jet kit. You should be able to find something nice this time of year. Honda, Kaw, Suzuki should all be about the same quality if well maintained. A newish 600 will seem much more twitchy to ride than the 1980. Also most sportbikes have a passenger seat the size of a Pop-Tart.

My first and only bike was a 89 CBR600 F1 that I bought in 99. I put a jetkit, full exhaust and filter. It was fun when I had a friend to ride with. I would look for the best/newest bike you can find in your price range. Now isn't the best time to look at bikes because this is when everyone is looking for them. You can find better deals late summer to winter. I don't know about buying dropped bikes. There could be more wrong with it than you can see at the time of purchase. Usually around $4000 you can find pretty nice used 600s that are only about 5 years old.
