Hey, this is Jesse, i met a lot of you guys at the shootout last year, finally got an account set up on here. I'm definately going next year, and i should be driving my own car this time :D . Its an accord, but i looked at a ton of dsms before i bought it. I might get one as a weekend type car one of these days :D Here's the thread for it: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=104593

yeah i already have a few parts waiting to be but in, steering rack, tie rod ends, stainless header, battery cables, and i'm going to get an s2000 antenna and take my power antenna out. It weighs 18 pounds and doesnt work, so it's going :D I'm also going to work on adjusting my shifter a little better than it is, its hard to go into park, and before it got cold i made it a little better but it could use a bit more fine tuning.

Unless you are going with a supercharger or nitrous installing a header will actually make less horsepower on a honda.

Whats up Jesse, welcome! I know your a cool dude so dont take any of this personally please! I'm gonna try not to insult your car too much, sorry! Get her fixed up though man. You can do it!

The velocity (speed) of the exhaust gases slows way down. Honda cylinder heads are designed with very very good efficiency with higher back pressure, that's why the head ports are not ginormous. Unless you are increasing the amount of gases inside the cylinder (whether it be NO2 or forced induction), thus increasing the exhaust flow, your really not doing much good. Most of this is noticed with lower RPM torque, or the no force generated by Honda engines. You may gain a little horse power in upper RPMs, but you will loose what little torque you have.

I would probably install a cam to go along with exhaust on a Honda, but I'm really not that into the Honda seen. I could justify adding some Beehive ridden exhaust on my car without have some substantial gain +20hp or something noticeable. I wouldn't mod an efficacy, economical car at all though, so not my call.

Interesting topic today!! I've known Jess for a long time and I know he's been doing tons of research about everything he gets.

He's probably just replacing a really nasty looking manifold with a totally sick looking tubular header. (It does look sweet, I saw it at his house.Probably got a great deal on it too.) It's not gonna make THAT much difference in HP, and it'll look SO MUCH BETTER under the hood. That car could use some bling for sure.

-Time for a K swap. ;)

Car could use a can of bondo too in some spots and that would probably be a better way to spend the money. But who am I to talk I've got a car that's done nothing but occupy a spot in my garage for the last 9 months.

the header i have is actually very similar to the f22a4 tubular header that comes stock on 90-91 ex accords, and 92-93 lx's. I originally wanted an a4 header, but this one was considerably cheaper, and similar in size so i should have pretty good backpressure still. As soon as i can spare the money i'm going to get a bisimoto stage 2 cam (probably turbo since that's in my plans), teflon rocker spacers, spring kit and oversized valves. I know they do headwork but i might just hit up esp (www.explicitspeedperformance.net) since they're a bit cheaper and from what people say do excellent work.

Also, i was almost going to leave the accord alone, but then i found out it weighs less than a dsm :D It also handles pretty well, and will be much better when i get the rear suspension off of a 94, so i can get the anti roll bar and disc brakes.

Also i'm looking at an h23 tb, upper intake manifold and f22a6 lowers. The a6 has dual runners and butterflies in the second set, so i need the black box for them and ecu, although i kinda want to get a civic ecu and get hondata s200 in it so i can get it tuned with the new stuff.

Why waste the money on a header if it's going to get replaced with a turbo manifold down the road?
