Ok So I am confused a little been reading all about timing on the DSMtuners forum and still confused. I also have the hanes and chilton. Maybe I am just stupid I dont knw but any ways. We took everything off got the water pump on and now we just need to set the timing and then we be good. Now doing that is confusing, one I have never done timing. The reason we are setting timing back is because I don't think the guy had it right. So if there is anyone that could give me real clear picture maybe i am not finding or something. We are going to attemp it a little bit and see what we get. (we=Me and stepdad) HELP!!!!!!!

So is the timing belt on and the car back together and you are trying to set base timing or are you talking about just installing the timing belt?

go to www.vfaq.com
It has by far the best laid out timing belt re-installment procedure.

worst case scenario. Slip someone like corey or krebs a $20 and they'll probably come set it for you I'd do it, but I won't be back in town until Tuesday.

If I had 20 bucks i sure would. I live by northside high school. My main scare is the crank shaft everything else seems easy to line up.

The crankshaft should be just as easy. There's a little marker on the front case at about the 2 o'clock position and you line that up with the notch in the plate behind timing belt gear on the crankshaft.

Well got bad new well bad news on my part. I was putting the timing belt on top and the belt slipped and my finger slide right across the cams. then some how the timing cover got bump and i stepped right on and smashed it to pieces and I don't have 100 bucks to get a new one. So I am really pissed off.

No I would run it with out the top. It is the bottom one. I just can't believe I stepped on it. I guess when you smash your finger you just don't think right. I went to the er they said if I would of left my finger between there for a few sec longer it would probably of broke or got smashed.
