Here is a pic of Dave's head gasket after only 2 months of driving and a little bit of racing. I think the head we got was a little warped to begin with. The blow out is just too perfectly centered. Redecking the head tho, and putting on a Cometic MLS with the Studs and hopefully it seals this time. I had a feeling this was the issue when he was loosing coolant and misfiring on 2 and 3 after Muncie 2 weeks ago... We'll get her done bro!

I've got a mitsu MLS and it's holding up on my setup very well so far. But nothing will seal until you get that head straightened out. Great time to throw some ARP's in there as well. There's always a set for sale somewhere.

Yeah, have the head re-surfaced for sure. The Felpro gaskets usually won't put up with the abuse modding tolls. Use either a Commetic or Mitsubishi MLS with ARP studs, and don't use anything else.
Resurface the head
Check the block deck for straightness
If the block deck is warped more than .003" you may want to consider having is resurfaced.
With a blow through like that its easy to melt the valleys in-between the two combustion chambers especially if he drove for awhile like that. In this case the head is junk.

He already got a Cometic HG, and we installed studs the last time the head was off. So he is taking it to his machine shop in Paulding to redeck the head then we are going to measure the block deck and prolly end up putting it back on and see how it does. He already said he's not racing at Norwalk...

Yeah, have the machine shop look over that cross valley between 2-3 real good. Re-torque the ARP after a few warm up cycles too. Sometimes they will loosen up a little.
