God dammit! Broke another lower alternator bracket! Hopefully they can make one out of some steel.

Is it stock or relocated? Just curious. Never heard of one breaking.

Its the Jay Racing relocate. They both broke in the same spot. This one lasted 4 times longer than the first one. I'm going to replace the alternator too this time. Maybe the case is fucked up, I know the bearing is.

Wow, that sucks ass. Hopefully swapping the Alt will make it not break, if that is what is causing it.

I've never seen mention of the Jay racing piece breaking before.

I've seen them break before. Especially the old design. Also make sure you're not over tensioning the belt and putting undue tension on the bracket itself.

Guys that have cars in the 8's run the same kit. I'm thinking something just isn't right with the alternator. Its the one thing that keeps breaking, so something isn't right. I don't put much tension on the belt either, just enough to keep it from squeaking.

Well didn't you say the bearing was bad? If it is, I'm sure it's causing repeated differences in tension every time the bearing shifts. That can't be good on that kit.

Reminds me of the guy who made my first camber plates. Too concerned with saving weight and using aluminum than making it slightly heavier out of steel and making it last.

That sounds like a winner. What happened after you used them?

They broke and the shock went through the CF hood, twice. Luckily it was the same spot both times.

Got a hold of Jay. They are having a steel bracket one offed for me. Its a $100 piece and they are splitting the cost with me which is pretty cool.

The bad thing is, it tore the boot on my DSS axle which I'm pretty pissed off about. Have to find out how much a boot is tomorrow. Hoping they don't bend me over. Trying to get is back together for 4th. RPM Transmissions is renting Muncie during the day and I was invited to race, so hopefully things go smooth and I can beet up on some LSx guys, hehe.
